Due to better veterinary care our feline companions are living longer than ever. If a veterinarian and an owner have determined that more medical intervention will not improve the quality of life, a decision about further care must be made. Many veterinarians will help with hospice care for a terminally ill animal. This will allow the animal to live as comfortably as possible. The animal should be kept warm and clean and in a quiet place. Some animals like gentle stroking, others may prefer not to be touched. Most enjoy having someone close by. However, some animals will prefer to hide and be left alone. Each animal is an individual and the final decisions about care should be made with your veterinarian.
