Did your feral friend live with other cats? If so, then with careful and slow introductions, having another cat should be possible. True ferals actually tend to do pretty well with other cats, but find it difficult to accept other humans. However, if your cat was not part of a colony but a loner, it could be a tough sell for him to accept a strange cat. Most resident cats automatically object to strange felines and can take several weeks to accept them (if at all). A feral, as you know, probably has a more fragile personality. This is a judgment call you’ll have to make since you know your cat the best.
