Some cats are not as outgoing as others and find the addition of a new cat a bit frightening. It helps to be sure that the new kitten and the exisiting cat has some safe areas and time alone without being disturbed. Calm, quiet introductions using food treats often help the cats learn to associate good things with the presence of the other cat. Over time, most cats learn to accept a new kitten.
