Menadione Sodium Bisulfite Complex (MSBC) is a supplement added to pet foods as a source of Vitamin K. Vitamin K is an essential nutrient for cats and is added to meet the nutrient requirements of cats. Most pet food ingredients contain Vitamin K but not at the level required to meet the cats needs, thus the need for extra supplementation. Vitamin K is also a very sensitive vitamin and can be destroyed by heat, humidity or light. Therefore, even though we know some Vitamin K will be lost during storage we can be assured the Vitamin K needs of the cat will be met by adding supplemental levels. MSBC is perfectly safe for consumption by our pets.
