Years ago, my family and I moved to a new house with our five cats and our black lab, Blue. The first night, I left food out for the cats and left. For some reason we had to return home, and I found a grey cat eating the cat food (Purina® brand Cat Food, of course!). He growled at our cats as he ate their food and I yelled at him to leave, but he fought me every inch of the way. He finally relented and called it a night.
The same time the next day, the food was gone again. I quickly filled it up and, sure enough, the grey cat was back. I started to yell at him, but then I realized he must have been starving. I left him food for seven more months, knowing he liked to keep his distance, until one day he rubbed my leg. He became my best friend and favorite cat until I saw him being fed by a neighborhood girl….
