Cats are usually in heat for about 7-10 days unless they are bred. Many cats will cycle through several heat phases until they stop or become pregnant. When in heat a cat will try to get outdoors and find a mate. Spaying is an important step to prevent unwanted kittens and to help keep a cat indoors. When the first round of heat is over, the cat should be to the veterinarian to be spayed.
