I have four cats with URIs and they are being treated with Chlorphenirmin and with...

If the medicine you have picked up is in a transdermal gel form (which it sounds like if you are applying it to the inside of the ears), you can also absorb it through your skin. That is why your veterinarian advised you to wear gloves. I'm sorry to hear the pharmacy was not helpful to you, I feel it should be part of their duties to be sure you don't have questions about the medication. There is always discussion on how well transdermal gels may work, since absorption can be variable but if you can't give your cat any medicine orally, it is certainly worth a try! Hope your cats and their upper respiratory infections are better soon.
