My friend and I rescued a kitten from a junkyard at just a few weeks old. We've had her...

Good kitten care starts with good nutrition such as Purina ONE Healthy Kitten Formula. Next a veterinary visit is needed to assess her health, check for intestinal parasites and begin her vaccinations. Spaying a kitten by 6 months of age will help prevent unwanted litters of kittens. Kittens are inquisitive and agile and will climb onto objects to investigate them. Supervision and redirecting the kitten to appropriate climbing objects is a first step. Since jumping and pouncing are normal play behavior, making sure the kitten has plenty of appropriate play with toys is useful to direct their behavior in the right direction. Avoid any play with human body parts since this sends the wrong message. Also avoid any physical reprimands since these scare a kitten, instead leave the area or isolate the kitten for wild play behavior.
