The integration of cats can take some time. It is essential that resources be adequately spaced through out the home. These include food and water bowls, resting areas, litter boxes and toys. This will allow each cat access to what they need perhaps without encountering the other cats. It also helps if a young, energetic cat has regularly scheduled playtime that addresses his need to exercise and activity. In some cases each cat needs some “alone time” in a secure place where they have what they need and learn they will not be bothered by the other cat. When problems are ongoing a visit to a veterinary behaviorist may be necessary to work on a comprehensive play to introduce the cats to one another.
