I almost never recommend adopting additional cats to solve existing behavior problems. More often than not, it just creates new difficulties. You have absolutely no guarantee that the new kitty and this playful boy would even like each other. It’s also extremely difficult to predict personality because it can change 180 degrees depending on the other cat being present--or not. So no, I would not suggest you adopt another cat at this time.
