What is the best way to introduce another animal (Cat) into a home with a cat already...

A cat that has always lived alone may be very upset and agitated when another cat is brought into the home. If the cat is sufficiently anxious, they may also redirect all that emotion to others in the environment. Introductions are best accomplished slowly by first isolating the new cat in a room with a door. This will allow the resident cat to become accustom to the smell of the other cat. Once they are not longer reacting at the door, it may be safe to allow short periods where they see each other. Using food treats and keeping introductions very short usually helps ease the transition.
