Do Purina® Cat Chow® brand Cat Food and other Purina® dry cat foods contain adulterated...

No. Purina Cat Chow brand Cat Food and other Purina brand dry cat foods are not impacted by the adulterated wheat gluten.

ALPO® Prime Cuts in Gravy and Mighty Dog® pouch wet dog foods are the only two Purina products under recall and affected by the adulterated wheat gluten. Importantly, no other Purina dog food products, no Purina wet or dry products and no Purina treat products are included in this recall, nor have been impacted by the adulterated wheat gluten.

The FDA announced on March 30 that melamine, a substance not approved for use in pet food, had been found in a limited quantity of wheat gluten from a single source in China.

By 2 p.m. that same day, using our sophisticated ingredient tracking capability, Purina determined that a limited quantity of the FDA-identified adulterated wheat gluten from this single source had been used in specific, limited production runs at only one of Purina's 17 pet food manufacturing facilities. We have strict quality assurance procedures that provide for isolation of ingredients and of finished products, so we also were able to determine that the contaminated wheat gluten was not used in any other Purina products manufactured at our facilities.
