Does the Purina® Kitten Chow® brand Kitten Food have the same hairball ingredient as the...

Purina Kitten Chow brand Kitten Food does not contain the special blend of fibers that is used in both Purina Cat Chow brand Cat Food Indoor Formula (for cats one year of age and older) and Purina Cat Chow brand Cat Food Vitality Formula (for cats seven years of age and older) dry cat foods. If you're concerned that your cat may be prone to hairballs, which many indoor cats are susceptible to, it's recommended you discuss this with your veterinarian. You vet can recommend some products that you can give to reduce the incidence of hairballs. These products are mainly mineral oil type substances that lubricate the intestinal tract to promote the passing of the hairballs via the feces. This usually decreases the incidence of hairballs being vomited up. Another good practice is to begin a grooming program with your cat. Regular brushing of your cat to remove loose hair will reduce the amount of hair ingested during your cat's own grooming and thus reduce the incidence of hairballs.
