There are medications that can help particularly with fear aggression but ANY medical intervention for behavior should also include behavior modification. Your veterinarian may be able to refer you to a veterinary behaviorist. If one isn’t nearby, qualified help is also available from the certified members of the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants. Look at the website www.iaabc.org to find one near you--he or she would work in conjunction with your veterinarian to create a plan that might include drug therapy. In the meantime, the book PETiQuette offers detailed information about the various types of aggression, including step-by-step behavior modification techniques for dealing with it. Good luck!
