My first question for you is what kind of flea treatment are you using? Some over-the-counter products that contain pyrethrins can cause these kinds of symptoms in older, younger or sensitive cats. If your cat is in one of these categories, this could be a systemic reaction your cat is having and I would not use this product again. In fact, this kind of reaction can sometimes be very severe and require veterinary care. Another possibility to explain the salivation is that your cat is able to reach the area you have used the medication to treat. Many flea medications taste very bitter and can cause salivation. So be sure to apply the medication high up on the back of your cat's neck where she cannot reach it.
