My five-year-old spayed female cat, Daisy, has always been quiet and collected. Suddenly...



Yes, Daisy could be reacting to the scent from your absent dog. She may also be reacting to “critters” such as bugs or mice making noises outside the house--or even inside the walls. You might keep track to see if the behavior happens at the same times each day, which might indicate feeding behavior of the invisible critter.
