Smokey loves you and he trusts you because you are a constant and familiar part of his life. Cats dislike any sort of change. So he’s gotten into the habit of interacting with you, and it would likely take him a very long time to learn to trust anybody else to pick him up. You must be a very special person to have earned such high regard!
