My seven-year-old indoor cat and my two-year-old indoor cat have severe reactions to...

With vaccinations, I tend to follow the American Association of Feline Practitioners guidelines (these are also available on their website). The first step is to decide exactly what vaccines your cat needs based on her exposure. For all cats, in general, the FVRCP (distemper) vaccine is recommended and is given every 3 years in adult cats. Rabies is also recommended for all cats due to the public health significance of the disease. Because your cats had such severe reactions, you and your veterinarian should work together to decide how and what to vaccinate your cats for. For many cats that have reactions to vaccines, it can help to give them medication before the vaccine to help diminish the adverse reaction. It can also help to separate out the vaccines, so your cats only get one vaccine at a time if multiple vaccines are needed. Hope this information helps. Keep taking such good care of them!
