Some cats will lose their hearing as they age but if you think this is a sudden change for your cat, I would contact your veterinarian. When approaching her if she is sleeping, I would always try to approach her from the front, so she can see you if she opens her eyes. You can also stomp or tap your feet as you approach, as she should sense the vibration of your approach. You may also notice she may hear certain pitches (low vs. high) better, so you can also modify your voice if this is the case.
