Our cat, Sara becomes extremely stressed when she has to go to the veterinarian. She...

The short trips to the veterinarian are a good way to help her get used to the ride. If she has a favorite treat or likes catnip, you can use those to also help associate the idea with good things. These practice car trips don’t have to end up at the veterinarian clinic every time, either--they could simply run around the block and then home for a rousing game of chase-the-feather.

A cat facial pheromone product also seems to help relieve the stress with some cats. It’s an analogue of the cheek pheromones cats produce and rub on objects to mark their territory as “safe” so you can use the spray on a towel in the carrier to ease upset feelings. You can also spray the examining table before the veterinarian comes into the room.
