We've had our cat Spice since she was a kitten, and we got her around June 2000. She was...

This is a great question. Cats are called "seniors" at about 8 years of age as they may start to slow down and their body systems may start to age. With that said, I consider the average life span for an indoor cat to be about 16, so you should have many more years with Spice. Many cats do not turn gray as they age. At this point she's still an "adult" but will be a "senior" next year. But remember that's just a title and it doesn't mean Spice is old or ill! She's the same cat she was!
