What a great question! You don’t mention Manny’s age, but kittens need lots of attention and learn to bond with people while young. They later “generalize” this experience so that “all people are friendly” if they’ve been handled appropriately. So I would strongly recommend that Manny stay with your friend in her house during your absence.
